In Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, a speeding container truck ran over a family standing by the roadside late on Sunday night. In the final seconds before the crash, a father-in-law pushed his son, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter to safety, but came under the wheels of the container himself. He died within 15 seconds at the spot. According to information, the deceased has been identified as Hakim Singh, a resident of Chandauria village. He worked at Annapurna Hotel in Kolaras on National Highway-46. His son-in-law Hoshiyar Parihar works in Indore. He had come to the village with his wife and daughter on a few days’ leave. On Sunday night at around 12 am, Hoshiyar was scheduled to return to Indore. Hakim Singh had brought the family in front of the hotel to board a bus. Hakim Singh, his son Raj, daughter, son-in-law Hoshiyar Parihar and young granddaughter were standing by the roadside waiting for the bus. The bus driver suddenly slowed down, when a speeding container coming from behind went out of control. In an attempt to avoid hitting the bus, the driver turned the container, but it moved directly towards the family standing by the roadside. Panic and screams erupted within seconds. Seeing death in front, Hakim Singh pushed his family CCTV footage shows that as soon as the container moved towards the family, Hakim Singh forcefully pushed away his son Raj, son-in-law Hoshiyar and daughter. Due to the push, the family members fell away from the roadside and their lives were saved. While trying to save the family, Hakim Singh himself came under the container. The speeding vehicle crushed him and moved ahead. The accident was so horrific that people present at the spot were left terrified. Hakim Singh died in front of his family members. Son-in-law hung onto the container, driver started fleeing After the accident, the container driver tried to flee with the vehicle. Seeing his father-in-law die, Hoshiyar Parihar ran behind the container and clung onto it. The driver swerved the vehicle from side to side in an attempt to throw him off. The container overturned after travelling some distance. Driver and helper fled in darkness, police engaged in search As soon as the container overturned, chaos spread in the area. Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver and helper fled from the spot. Local residents immediately informed the police. On receiving information, Kolaras police reached the scene. Police sent Hakim Singh’s body for postmortem. The overturned container has been seized. Search operations are underway to trace the absconding driver and helper. Police are trying to identify the accused using the container number and other technical details.
