A fire broke out in an AC coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (12431) in the Kota railway division early Sunday morning, disrupting traffic on the crucial Delhi-Mumbai rail route. The incident occurred around 5:15 am between Luniricha and Vikramgarh Alot stations in Madhya Pradesh, before the train entered Rajasthan. According to railway officials, the fire started in coach B1 of the premium train. Following reports of the fire, emergency hooters were sounded at Kota Junction and rescue and relief teams were immediately dispatched to the spot. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain said there were 68 passengers onboard the affected coach. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. Guard alerted loco pilot about fire Officials said the train guard first informed the loco pilot after noticing the fire. The train was then brought to an immediate halt and passengers were evacuated from the affected coach. Railway staff managed to empty the coach within nearly 15 minutes. However, the flames spread rapidly through the compartment within minutes. Railway authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. Incident happened before train reached Kota The Rajdhani Express had departed from Ratlam Junction in Madhya Pradesh at around 3:45 am on Sunday. Its next scheduled halt was Kota Junction at 8:45 am. Before reaching Rajasthan, the fire broke out near Vikramgarh Alot station. Delhi-Mumbai rail traffic temporarily halted After the incident, rail traffic on the busy Delhi-Mumbai route was temporarily stopped as a precautionary measure. Officials said the train’s power supply was disconnected and the affected coach was detached from the rest of the train. Senior officers and technical teams from the Kota railway division have reached the site and restoration work is underway.
