Mandsaur couple dies after consuming poison in car:Suicide note cites personal distress, no foul play suspected

In Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday evening, a couple consumed poison while sitting inside a car. Both were rushed in a critical condition to a private hospital, where during treatment, wife Ushmita Soni died first and husband Dushyant Soni died on Saturday morning. A suicide note was also recovered from the couple. According to information, Dushyant Soni worked in AU Finance Bank as a collection agent, while his wife Ushmita Soni was a guest lecturer at a government college. The couple was sitting in a car near Dev Doongri Mataji temple, located some distance from Mandsaur city, where they consumed poison. At that time, Dushyant’s mother, son and daughter were present at home. They had told the family that they were going to the nearby Khatu Shyam temple and would return in five minutes. Around 5 pm, Lokesh Nigam received a call from his niece, who informed him that her parents had still not returned home. After this, Lokesh went out searching for them. Meanwhile, around 6 pm, he received a call from an unknown number asking him to reach Ajay Hospital. Wife died at night and husband breathed his last in the morning Lokesh Nigam said that when he reached the hospital, both were in extremely critical condition and were unable to speak properly. Police were informed from the hospital itself. Around 1 am, Ushmita Soni died, while Dushyant Soni breathed his last at around 10 am on Saturday. Couple told acquaintances – “Do attend our event” Family members said that while consuming poison, the couple made phone and video calls to acquaintances. During the conversations, they repeatedly said, “Do attend our event tomorrow.” Relatives also tried to trace their location, but the couple did not share it clearly. Suicide note says: family should not be troubled According to YD Nagar police station in-charge Shivanshu Malviya, the tehsildar and police team recorded Dushyant Soni’s statement before his death at night. During this, he informed police about a suicide note kept in the car. The suicide note recovered from the spot stated that both Dushyant and Ushmita were ending their lives due to personal problems and distress. It clearly mentioned that no family member or other person was responsible. It added that they were taking this step of their own will and had even spoken to loved ones in their last calls.
