Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting coach Kieron Pollard was found guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on 14 May. The five-time champions registered their fourth win of the tournament, beating PBKS by six wickets. Despite the win, MI remained ninth on the IPL 2026 points table and are out of the reckoning for a spot in the playoffs. Kieron Pollard argued with fourth umpire During the 19th over of the Mumbai Indians’ innings, Pollard used abusive language during an argument with the fourth umpire. Match referee Pankaj Dharmani deemed this a ‘Level 1′ violation of the IPL Code of Conduct. Pollard was charged under Article 2.3 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of abusive language during a match. The match referee fined him 15% of his match fee. In a post-match hearing, Pollard admitted his mistake. He accepted the match fine and sanction. After accepting the Level 1 offence, according to IPL rules, there will be no formal hearing. A demerit point was also added to Pollard’s account. According to IPL rules, if a player or coach accumulates four or more demerit points within a stipulated timeframe, they can be suspended for one or more matches. This is a warning for Pollard, so that such incidents do not occur in the future.
