Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation appears to have had little impact on BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh, as several large convoy rallies were witnessed in Chhatarpur and Singrauli. In Chhatarpur, State Women’s Commission chairperson Rekha Yadav took out a convoy of hundreds of vehicles, leading to severe traffic congestion. Meanwhile, in Singrauli, Development Authority chairman Virendra Goyal travelled in an e-rickshaw from Baidhan, but more than 200 vehicles reportedly followed his convoy. Similarly, Textbook Corporation chairman Saubhagya Singh, Small Industries Corporation chairman Satyendra Bhushan Singh, and BJP MLA Pritam Singh Lodhi also organised convoys of around 200 vehicles each during their public appearances.
