Virat Kohli shared his thoughts in a candid chat with Ian Bishop after hitting a century in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. The ‘Chasemaster’ broke his streak of two consecutive ducks and struck an unbeaten 105* off 60 balls, taking his IPL century tally to nine. Kohli was expectedly named Player of the Match for his superb knock and while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the RCB great shared his honest insights on his game, stating that he is enjoying every bit of it before it all comes to an end one day. ‘It’s gonna finish one day’ Kohli achieved a plethora of records in the RCB vs KKR match. The match was his 279th in the IPL, the most by any player. The right-hander crossed 14000 T20 runs, becoming the fastest to do so. Also, the RCB great scored his 10th T20 century, the most by an Indian batter in the shortest format of the game. When asked as to how he felt about these records, here’s what he said, “Well, I just love batting. Even after all this, that’s my core feeling. Look, what an honour to be playing at this level. What an honour to be competing with the very best in the world still. This is all I have done all my life. Cricket is absolutely something that I truly love and I just give my heart and soul out there on the field, whether I’m fielding or batting. Because it’s gonna finish one day. And I want to make the most of every day I’m on the field and just enjoy myself and have a lot of fun and look forward to pressure situations, look forward to scenarios where I’m feeling a bit of heat and I challenge myself to go for it. And when you cross the line, it makes you a better player. Sport, as you know, teaches you a lot as a person as well. So you build your character slowly and surely when you keep performing under pressure. And for me, even after all these years and these numbers, it’s still the love for the game. I just love hitting the ball in the middle of the bat and that joy is still there. It’s all God’s grace and I’m very thankful and grateful. RCB trolls KKR on social media Social media banters are always fun and after matches between big teams, the focus shifts online, where teams often take light-hearted digs at each other. RCB, after beating KKR, did not stop from trolling the Knight Riders on X. In a post on X, RCB shared a poster of a lion in a jungle, symbolic of the one in their team logo. In front of him lay the helmet from KKR’s logo and a shield that had claw marks, indicative of the Knights’ defeat. “The funniest part about the same old banter is that it keeps getting quieter every year. See you next year, Knights. Hopefully with some new material from this decade,” the caption read. This was a response to a video shared by KKR where the franchise had likened this clash against RCB to a fight in the jungle, with one line strikingly standing out- “There are many claims to the throne (showing RCB’s name at the stadium, many succeed in claiming that glory (with Virat Kohli’s picture).” RCB also reacted to an old promotional KKR post where the Knight Riders had mocked the defending champions for their lowest total of 49, written in traffic lights. RCB put out a post in a similar template- a traffic light which had the text, ‘RCB W’. Krunal Pandya’s prediction comes true Krunal, speaking after the match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), where Kohli scored a duck, had said that he gets excited if the RCB star fails to score in two matches, knowing that he will come back strong. And Krunal’s prediction came true as Kohli scored a century. After the match, Krunal also shared a post on Instagram featuring Kohli and wrote, “I told you so,” with a picture of the two posing for the camera. Ambati Rayudu hilariously seeks credit for RCB’s success Ambati Rayudu said he and others who criticised RCB in the past, are the reason behind the team’s success in the past few years. Speaking on a show on ESPNCrincinfo, he said, “Our criticism was logic-based. It was never without logic. We said they never picked good quality Indian middle-order batsmen. They didn’t have good finishers and they didn’t have experienced bowling. Eventually they did and are reaping the rewards.” RCB vs KKR memes RCB are in firm contention for a spot in the playoffs and have two more matches in the group stage remaining, against Punjab Kings (17 May) and against Sunrisers Hyderabad (22 May). KKR, on the other hand, will need to win all three matches to have any chance of making it to the last four- against Gujarat Titans (16 May), against Mumbai Indians (20 May) and Delhi Capitals (24 May).
