police-hold-smugglers-in-5-star-hotel:one-freed-for-₹5-lakh;-another-framed-in-indore

Four policemen from Indore’s Vijay Nagar police station turned their uniform into a weapon for extortion. They picked up a drug smuggler from Badod in Agar Malwa, and instead of taking him to the police station, they kept him hostage for two days in a luxurious 5-star hotel in the city and extorted Rs 5 lakh. The limit was crossed when they used the same smuggler to trap another criminal and extorted a hefty amount from him as well. This sequence of events is from November 2024. The complaint reached the ACP, after which the layers of the entire case kept unfolding. During investigation, the location of all four policemen and the smugglers also turned out to be the same. This has also been confirmed by the call detail report. The accused also exposed the policemen’s misdeeds in their statements, but the shocking thing is that no action has been taken against any policeman so far. Recently (in May 2026), the DCP has sought some more information related to this from the ACP. After receiving information, Vijay Nagar TI CP Patel sent Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bhupendra Singh Gurjar, Head Constable Mukesh Singh Jadaun, Constable Kapil Sonaniya and Constable Radheshyam Rathore alias Radhe to Badaud to catch smuggler Wasim, son of Raju Khan. These policemen left after making an entry in the station diary. They went there and picked up Wasim on November 22, 2024, and brought him to Indore, but did not take him to the police station. Instead, they took him to a 5-star hotel in Vijay Nagar itself. They kept him hostage for two days and released him after taking money. Here, when the policemen returned from Baroda, when TI Patel asked about the smuggler, they told him that his mobile was switched off. He could not be caught. Two policemen were in uniform and two in plain clothes Smuggler Wasim, who was caught and brought from Baroda, told the then ACP Aditya Patle during the investigation that 4 policemen brought him to Indore. They kept the accused in a hotel for two days. Two policemen were in uniform and the other two were in plain clothes. The police officers initially beat him up at the hotel. “Since it was cold, I was wearing a cap on my head, so these police officers covered my entire head with the cap and interrogated me while beating me. When I got Arif caught, I was released.” said Wasim. “After getting Arif caught, I was made to sit in a Baleno car. My uncle was also present on the spot. Both of us were taken half a kilometer away from Vijay Nagar police station and dropped off. The police officer driving the Baleno had taken Rs 5 lakh from my uncle to release me.” he added. After Wasim, Arif was then looted After releasing Waseem, the greed of the policemen did not stop. They trapped and caught another smuggler Arif Bhoora through Waseem himself. To catch Arif, Waseem was made to call him and invite him to meet on MG Road. As soon as Arif reached there, the policemen standing in plain clothes caught him. Arif was also taken to the same 5-star hotel. A hefty amount was extorted from him too and he was also released without any action. Called by making excuse of wife and daughter’s illness Wasim told, “I called Arif alias Bhuru on mobile and my wife is unwell. My daughter’s heartbeat is low. You suggest a good hospital, then Arif told me to come to Indore and call me on mobile. I will take you. The police and I reached near the District Court in an auto rickshaw. There I called Arif. Arif had come with his wife and daughter. Right there the policeman caught him. Then they made both of us sit in the same auto and took us to a hotel. After an hour they told me – Your family members are coming. They will release you. Then two policemen brought me outside Vijay Nagar police station in a white Baleno car. My uncle Arif Mev had already reached there. They made him sit in the car and took us about half a kilometer away from Vijay Nagar police station and dropped us. The policeman who was in the Baleno car took 5 lakh rupees from uncle Arif Mev and released me. Arif also said the same thing that Waseem said In the statement given to the ACP, Arif also narrated the same story that Waseem had told. Waseem also said that when the police were taking me away after catching me, my wife asked where are you taking him, then a policeman told my wife that my name is Lokendra Khinchi, I am from Vijay Nagar police station. After this, the police took me and Waseem in an auto rickshaw to a hotel located on Bhamori Main Road. There was another boy there. Two policemen in uniform were with him. We were kept there. The boy who was already there, his name was Azhar. I don’t know the name of the hotel. The special thing is that the police caught Arif two days after catching Waseem. Crime Branch constable Pramod Tomar arranged the deal Several shocking revelations have come to light in the complete investigation by then ACP Patle. Patle has written in his investigation report that Wasim was brought from Barwad to Indore without any written documentation. The Barwad TI has also confirmed that Indore’s Vijay Nagar police had come to Barwad in search of Wasim. The shocking revelation in the ACP’s investigation is that Crime Branch constable Pramod Tomar had arranged the deal between Arif and the police personnel. Pramod stated that he was not aware why Vijay Nagar police had picked up these smugglers, but since Arif was his informer, he had told Lokendra Khinchi that if he hadn’t made any mistake, he should be released. However, police sources say that it was Pramod who negotiated the deal with the police on behalf of Arif’s family to get him released. Truth exposed in investigation, this matter came to light The ACP’s investigation report clearly mentions that releasing suspects without any legal action and obtaining benefits from them has been proven. The report also found that TI Chandrakant Patel did not have adequate control over his subordinate staff. The investigation revealed that the accused were wrongly apprehended. They were released without legal procedure and senior officers were not informed about it. Additionally, taking illegal benefits in the entire matter has also been confirmed. 2024 case, no action taken yet Even after everything came to light from the ACP’s investigation in this entire matter, no action has been taken yet. In this case of illegal detention in 2024, the then ACP Aditya Patle had submitted the investigation report (09 A/25) to DCP Zone-2 on October 18, 2025 itself. Responsible officials avoided talking, said- I am busy right now
