The administration has taken a strict stance against officers and employees who showed negligence in a task of national importance, like the census. Corporation Commissioner and Chief Census Officer Kshitij Singhal has issued show-cause notices to a total of 289 officers and employees who were absent from duty. In fact, officers and employees from various departments were assigned responsibilities for the census work. Despite continuous notifications since May 1st, many employees did not report for duty. Considering this as serious negligence and indiscipline, the administration has stated that it is a violation of the provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Conduct Rules 1965. Strict disciplinary action will be taken if found guilty in this matter. It has been clarified in the notice to the concerned employees that a departmental inquiry has been proposed against the absent employees under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control Appeal) Rules 1966. Additionally, action to file an FIR under the relevant sections of the Census Act 1948 may also be taken. All concerned officers and employees have been instructed to immediately join duty and submit their satisfactory explanation to the officer-in-charge by 5:30 PM on May 4. The administration has warned that in case of failure to respond or report for duty by the stipulated deadline, unilateral action will be taken.
