A major rescue operation was launched at Ujjain railway station on Thursday night following information about child trafficking. The Antyodaya Express train was stopped at Ujjain and then at Nagda station, and a team from the police, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and other departments safely rescued 26 minor children. According to information, the Child Welfare Committee had received a tip-off that about 100 children were being taken from Muzaffarnagar to Ahmedabad for labour. Upon receiving the information, teams from four police stations in Ujjain, RPF, GRP, Labour Department, and Women and Child Development Department were alerted. 26 minors rescued from train As soon as the Antyodaya Express reached Ujjain station around 11 pm on Thursday night, the team began searching the train. For about half an hour, more than 50 children and the people accompanying them were interrogated, and initially, 4 children were rescued. During this time, the train moved on. CSP Deepika Shinde, who was leading the rescue operation, immediately informed Nagda station and stopped the train. After an hour-long search there, 22 more minor children were deboarded from the train. Thus, a total of 26 children were rescued. All the children deboarded from Nagda are said to be minors, two of whom are under 14 years of age. All the children have currently been handed over to Ujjain GRP. Further action will be decided after contacting their families, while the children will currently be kept at CWC Ujjain. Investigation ongoing Police suspect that the children were being taken to Gujarat for labour, although some children are also saying that they were going to visit Somnath and other places. Investigation into the matter is ongoing. According to Rakhi Joshi, Assistant Commissioner of the Labour Department, there was information that four people were taking more than 100 minors to Gujarat. Currently, it is being investigated for what purpose and by whom the children were being taken.
