A BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district has been accused of assaulting a young man over a phone call about a power cut. The incident took place in Naurozabad on Saturday night. According to the complaint, the young man had dialled a wrong number and asked why the electricity was turned off during a wedding function. This reportedly angered the accused, who then called him to his shop, locked him inside and beat him with a belt. The accused has been identified as Naurozabad City Vice President Amit Gupta. Police said a case was registered on Sunday based on the victim’s complaint. SDOP S.B. Bohit confirmed that further investigation is underway. During this, the electricity in the area went out. He called the electricity company’s sub-station to register a complaint, but the call mistakenly went to BJP leader Amit Gupta, a resident of Bazarpura. Taken inside the shop and beaten, threatened According to Atul, the BJP leader called me near his house. As soon as I reached there, the accused started abusing me. After that, he took me inside the shop, beat me with a belt, and threatened to kill me. The victim has injury marks on his body. BJP leader said – only pushed out Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Gupta has denied the allegations of assault. He said that the youth was abusing outside the shop, whom he pushed out. He said that he had already lodged a complaint with the police against the youth.
