In 86 cases of rape, only one accused was convicted. All other accused were honorably acquitted. In some cases, the victim stated that the accused is currently her husband. And in many cases, the victim accused the police of making her sign blank papers. Even more shocking is that many victims accused the police in court of making them give false testimony, stating that the statements given under Section 164 before the magistrate were made under police pressure. This means that looking at the Crime Record Bureau’s statistics, it would appear that Gwalior is not safe for women. Whereas the reality is that only cases are being registered, and the allegations are turning out to be false.
