Three girls drowned in a canal in Salibada village under Bargi police station area, about 40 km from Jabalpur, at around 11 am on Thursday. Five girls from the same family had entered the canal to bathe. On receiving information, Bargi police and SDRF teams reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The search operation has been ongoing for nearly three hours. Girls had come to attend a wedding It is being reported that a wedding ceremony was being held in Salibada. Two of the girls had come from Jabalpur to attend it, while the others were residents of nearby villages. The missing girls have been identified as Sheetal Patel (16) from Katiyaghat, Tanu Patel (14) and Saniya Patel (14). According to eyewitnesses, people present at the canal tried to rescue them, but they were swept away in deep water and are yet to be traced.
