obscene-reel-with-russian-tourist-at-gwalior-fort-goes-viral:influencer-slammed-online-as-tourism-image-takes-a-hit

An objectionable act by a local influencer involving a Russian tourist at Gwalior Fort has sparked outrage. The influencer recorded a video with obscene remarks under the guise of humour and uploaded it on social media, taking advantage of the woman’s lack of understanding of Hindi. The video quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism online and raising concerns over the treatment of foreign tourists in Gwalior. Earlier incidents of fraud and robbery involving tourists have also been reported in the city, adding to concerns about its image. According to reports, a group of tourists from Russia had arrived in Gwalior from Agra for sightseeing. While visiting the fort, the influencer approached them and persuaded one woman to feature in a reel. Exploiting the language barrier, he made obscene comments while recording the video. The reel, reportedly posted from an account named “Radhe Gurjar”, shows the woman smiling, giving a thumbs-up and saying “yes-yes”, unaware of the nature of the remarks being made. Social media users have termed the act shameful, saying it damages both the city’s reputation and the country’s image among international visitors. Locals also claim that such incidents discourage tourists from staying in Gwalior, with many choosing to travel onward to Jhansi or Orchha after visiting Agra. The video has now reached the police. Reports suggest the same influencer had earlier gone viral for traffic violations after acquiring a luxury car, and was also linked to an incident involving celebratory firing on a highway.
