A teenage couple was found hanging from a tree in a forest area of Sheopur district on Thursday, in an apparent case of suicide. The incident took place in the Agra forest under Bargawan police station limits. The deceased have been identified as Vishan Bhilala (18), a resident of Valihara, and Sambai (16), a resident of Kudarda village. Missing since April 15 According to police, both had left their homes without informing their families on April 15. A missing persons complaint was registered by their families on Wednesday. Following the complaint, police launched a search operation, using technical inputs such as mobile location tracking. Found hanging from same tree During the search on Thursday, both bodies were found hanging from the same tree inside the forest. Police reached the spot after being alerted by locals, brought the bodies down, and conducted preliminary inquest proceedings before sending them for postmortem. Relationship and alleged reason Initial investigation suggests that the two were in a relationship for the past two years. Police believe they took the extreme step as their families were not willing to approve their marriage. As the girl was a minor, the couple could not legally marry, which may have contributed to their decision. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot so far. Investigation underway Bargawan police station in-charge Shyamveer Singh Tomar said the girl used a dupatta and the boy used a towel to hang themselves. A case has been registered, and the matter is being investigated from all angles. Further clarity on the cause of death is expected after the postmortem report. Police are also questioning family members and locals.
