Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Samrat Choudhary has become Bihar’s new Chief Minister (CM). Choudhary took oath as 24th CM of the state on Wednesday, 15 April, 2026. Lets see how rich the new Bihar CM is. According to the affidavit filed by Samrat Choudhary with the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 2025, he had a total net worth of over ₹11 crore. From over ₹18 lakh total annual income reported for financial year 2024-25 (FY24) to owning agricultural land worth ₹3.67 crore, the BJP leader is reasonably affluent. Over ₹13 lakh bank balance: As of October 2025, Choudhary had a total savings of ₹13.28 lakh in bank accounts of two of the largest banks in the country. Bihar’s ex depuy CM has bank accounts with the SBI and the HDFC Bank. In the savings account with the largest public sector lender of the country, the SBI, Choudhary had ₹10.18 lakh bank balance as of 29 September 2025. While, his bank balance in another savings account with the largest private sector lender, the HDFC Bank, stood at ₹3.09 lakh. He invests a major portion of his salary rather than keeping it idle in banks. Choudhary only had ₹1.35 lakh cash at home. Additionally, for meeting emergency and retirement needs, he also made savings of ₹10.28 lakh in his Public Provident Fund (PPF) account as well. Mutual Fund Investments: When it comes to investment in stock market, Choudhary invests indirectly through mutual funds. His MF investments stood like this: For safe haven bets, Choudhary has also taken exposure in gold. He had reported possession of 200 grams of gold worth ₹20 lakh. Insurance policies: He had two insurance policies, one of ₹8 lakh with country’s largest life insurance company, LIC and the other of ₹1.50 lakh with the SBI Life. Car – Bolero Neo He had disclosed possession of Bolero Neo worth approx ₹7 lakh in his garage and a rifle costing ₹4 lakh along with a revolver costing ₹2 lakh. Non-agricultural land: Apart from ₹3.67 crore worth of agricultural land, Choudhary had reported ₹4.9 crore worth of holdings of non-agricultural land. Most of the agricultural land had been reported as inherited.
