A case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced in Satna, where a young man died after his condition worsened following kidney stone surgery. He was referred to Rewa in critical condition, but died during treatment. His family created a major ruckus and demanded ₹20 crore compensation. On Monday night, the family blocked a highway by placing the body near the Kolgawan Police Station. Police persuaded them to clear the road, but they later staged another protest outside Pathak Hospital with the body. Police from three stations were deployed to control the situation. The family alleged that negligence during surgery damaged the patient’s other kidney. He was stitched up in critical condition and referred to Rewa, where he later died. Youth from Panna underwent an operation According to information, Ravi Rajak, a resident of Devendranagar in Panna district, had a kidney stone complaint. His family brought him to a hospital in Mukhtiyarganj, Satna, for treatment. After examination, doctors advised surgery. The surgery lasted for about 5 hours at Pathak Nursing Home on April 4. It is alleged that during this time, doctors were negligent and also made a cut in the healthy kidney. Layers of negligence exposed in Rewa After the operation, the patient’s condition started deteriorating, due to which he was referred to Rewa’s Super Speciality Hospital. Here, investigations revealed a deep cut on the second kidney, which had been stitched. Due to increased blood leakage and infection, doctors had to remove the second kidney as well. After this, the patient’s condition continuously worsened, and he eventually died. Dr. Akshay Srivastava, Superintendent of Super Specialty Hospital, Rewa, said, when the patient was admitted to the Urology department, his kidney was not in a working condition. He said that most of the patient’s treatment took place in Satna and only dialysis was performed in Rewa. Detailed information about this case is not currently available. Father said – Life was lost due to a minor stone The deceased’s father, Girdharilal Rajak, alleged that his son only had a kidney stone problem, but due to negligence in treatment, he lost his life. He alleged that the incident was caused by the negligence of Dr Pushpendra Singh, Dr Rajiv Pathak, and Dr Rajiv Singh. The family members have filed a case against all three doctors and demanded their arrest. Women clash with CSP During the protest, the situation became tense. When prevented from going towards the hospital, women argued and clashed with CSP Devendra Singh. A heavy police presence was deployed at the scene to control the situation. Doctor admitted mistake in video A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which Dr Pushpendra Singh, who operated, is seen talking to the family members. In the video, the doctor is seen admitting his mistake and appealing to calm the matter. Complaint raised earlier too The family members say that they had given a written complaint to CMHO Dr. Manoj Shukla four days ago, but no action was taken. The CMHO has said that the matter is in cognisance. A team will be constituted for investigation, and strict action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true. Protest lasted 4 hours, agreement reached on 5 lakhs After a protest that lasted about 4 hours, several rounds of talks took place between the police, doctors, and family members at 11:30 PM. Finally, an agreement was reached for a check of 5 lakh rupees and 50 thousand rupees in immediate cash assistance, after which the protest ended. It was also assured that after the post-mortem report arrives from Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa, the entire matter will be investigated and action will be taken against the culprits.
