In Rajgarh district, the suspicious death of a married woman has raised several questions. A day before her death, the woman had called her mother and said, “I am being beaten.” The next day, she was found hanging from a saree inside her home. Her maternal family has alleged murder and made serious accusations against her in-laws. The incident took place in Bhawanipura village under Bhojpur police station limits. On Monday, the body of 22-year-old Birmi Bai was found hanging inside the house. After receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body to Khilchipur hospital for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation has begun. Husband had taken son with him According to family members, Birmi had gone to her parental home in Naiheda a few days earlier. On Friday, her husband Shivcharan came to take her back, but she did not return. He later took their two-year-old son with him. The next day, Birmi returned to her in-laws’ house, where a dispute reportedly broke out between the couple over the child. Husband says- Returned in half an hour to find her hanging from noose Husband Shivcharan stated that on Monday he had gone out to drop his aunt and collect household items. When he returned after about half an hour, the house was locked. After entering, he found his wife hanging. He raised an alarm and tried to save her, but she had already died. Maternal family’s allegation – Daughter was murdered The deceased woman’s father has alleged that his son-in-law and his family members killed their daughter. He said there had been an ongoing dispute over their son and that she was being harassed. Mother’s claim – In-laws used to demand money The victim’s mother said she last spoke to her daughter on Sunday night, during which she mentioned that she was being assaulted. She also alleged that the in-laws harassed her and demanded money. Police are currently recording statements from both sides. Officials said the exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report and further investigation.
