On Saturday late night at Katni Railway Station, 165 minor children were rescued after being deboarded from the Patna-Pune Express. Based on intelligence information, a joint team of RPF, GRP, Women and Child Development Department, and Child Protection Unit conducted the operation and safely evacuated the children from different coaches. After preliminary interrogation, the children were divided into two groups. Out of these, 82 children were sent to Jabalpur by bus late at night for monitoring and counseling, while 83 children have been kept safe in Katni itself. Children were being taken to Maharashtra The investigation revealed that all the children were being taken from Bihar to Maharashtra. A person accompanying the children identified himself as a teacher from a madrasa in Latur and said that he was taking the children from Araria (Bihar) for education.
