A youth in Betul district died by suicide after hanging himself, and when his girlfriend came to know about it, she consumed poison. Her condition remains critical, and she has been admitted to the district hospital. According to Kotwali TI Devkaran Dahariya, the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Shivansh Soni, a resident of Mahavir Ward. Shivansh worked as a manager at Indian Coffee House in Raipur and was the only son of his parents; his father is a teacher in Chhindwara. Shivansh had come to Betul two to three days earlier and hanged himself in a room built on the terrace of his house on Friday evening. Broke down upon hearing news of lover’s death Shivansh’s death news left his female friend completely shattered, and on Saturday morning she also consumed poison. The woman originally belongs to Saikheda and works as a computer operator in Betul. She is around two years older than Shivansh. Police had rescued her from the dam, counseled her for 4 hours According to Kotwali TI Devkaran Dahariya, both wanted to marry each other. He said their families were likely not in favour, which may have led to the boy’s suicide. He added that during routine patrolling, police had found the girl near a dam where she was about to jump. She was brought to the police station and counselled for 4 hours. At that time, she had told police that Shivansh was talking about ending his life. Later, it was found that he had consumed poison. Her statement has been recorded and both cases are under investigation.
