A shocking case of police action has come to light in Neemuch district. Here, a family appealed for help to escape from moneylenders, but instead of helping, the police filed a case of assault against the household members, including the would-be brides. Now the family fears that the police might arrest them during the wedding ceremony scheduled for April 12. Took ₹20 thousand four years ago, paid back ₹60 thousand Firoz Khan, who lives in the lane located at Naka Number – 4 in Baghana police station area, said, “Saleem Khan lives in the lane on the other side of the road in front of my house. 4 years ago, I borrowed ₹20 thousand from him at an interest rate of 15 percent. I have already returned ₹60 thousand to him including interest. Despite this, he is demanding more money”. He further said, “It was on 7th April. My son Mohammad Ali and my nephew were throwing stones at the tamarind tree planted in the house to knock down tamarinds. One stone fell near Saleem Khan’s house. On this, his family came to the house and started abusing. There were women in my house. When I reached home, once again people from his family came to the house and started abusing and threatening us”. Complained to police, but was not heard Firoz further said, “I filed a complaint at the police station in the afternoon. The police did not give a hearing. In the evening, once again Salim, his son Shabaz, family members Salam, Zakaz aka Mota, Gulbaz, Guddu and their daughters arrived at the house with sticks and stones. They beat me up. Meanwhile, Salim demanded unnecessary money. He threatened that if the money was not given, the wedding would not be allowed to take place”. In this attack which took place in Firoz’s house his son and niece were injured. He said, “The police kept him sitting at the station from around 9 pm to 11 pm. After this, they just went through the motions by registering a non-cognizable report”. Complained SP to provide security On not getting any response from the police, they reached the SP office on Thursday. There they pleaded for security and justice from SP Ankit Jaiswal. They informed the SP, “The daughters’ nikah (wedding) is on April 12. Threats are being given by Saleem to not let the wedding happen, therefore security should be provided”. The wedding is to take place in the collective marriage ceremony happening in Neemuch on April 12. Guests are coming and going at home. There is fear that Saleem Khan and his family members may disrupt the wedding. Police said- ‘Case registered based on complaints from both parties’ Baghana Thana Prabhari Radheshyam Dangi said, “I have been on leave for three days. It is a mutual dispute between both parties. Action is ongoing”. Meanwhile, Baghana Thana’s in-charge, Sub-Inspector RK Singhawat and investigating officer Sunil Singh said, “An NCR report has been registered against Salim Pathan on the complaint of Firoz Khan’s niece Falak”. Meanwhile, on the complaint of Salim Khan’s daughter Ruhab Khan, an FIR has been registered against Firoz Khan, his wife and both daughters under sections of assault.
