vande-mataram-mandatory-at-indore-congress-events:expulsion-move-against-rubina,-complaint-against-fauzia

City Congress Committee president Chintu Chouksey has made it clear that every Congress meeting in the city will now begin with Vande Mataram and conclude with Jana Gana Mana. He said those who have objections to singing Vande Mataram should not attend Congress meetings. Chouksey said the Congress has played a historic role in adopting Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana as the national song and national anthem. Even before Independence, every party conference began with Vande Mataram. He stated firmly, “The nation comes before religion. No religion stops us from singing in honour of our country. A sense of nationalism is essential in every worker.” Chouksey said party politics has its place, but it is not above the nation. It is necessary to uphold and express a sense of nationalism. He reiterated that no religion prevents anyone from singing in respect of the country, and it must be ensured that there is never any disrespect in thought or behaviour towards the national song and anthem. In such a situation, if any Congress member says they have a problem with saying Vande Mataram, it is wrong. Rubina’s expulsion confirmed? Proposal sent The city Congress president indicated that Rubina Iqbal Khan’s exit from the party is almost certain. He said a proposal for her expulsion has been sent to the Pradesh Congress Committee. “From today, consider that Rubina is no longer in the Congress. Those who speak against the party will not be entertained,” he said. Complaint filed against Fauzia There has also been a demand to register a complaint against councillor Fauzia Sheikh Alim, who is at the centre of the controversy. Hindutva leaders Lucky Mewati, Aishwarya Sharma and Mansingh Rajawat reached MG Road police station along with their supporters and submitted an application seeking registration of an FIR against the councillor. The complaint alleged that sentiments were hurt due to her refusal to sing Vande Mataram and her remarks.
