The Central Government said on Thursday, 9 April, 2026, that Iran has ensured India regarding free passage of vessels through the Hormuz Strait. More than 51 lakh LPG refills were made on Wednesday. 98% of bookings were made online. Sharma said there are 25,000 LPG distributors in India. Govt ramps up manufacture of 5 kg cylinders: To support students and labourers, the government has increased the manufacturing of 5 kg cylinders. Only ID proof is required for the procurement of 5 kg cylinders. Hoardings: The government authorities have conducted 1.16 lakh raids to check hoarding of cylinders. Another government official said that the government is taking all steps to ensure the passage of vessels on the various sea routes. The government continues to monitor the safety of the Indian community in the Gulf region. Over 8 lakh passengers travelled to India from Gulf regions Flights continue to operate. 8.15 lakh passengers have travelled from Gulf regions to India. More than 2,000 Indians have been brought from Iran to India through several routes. New PNG connections
Sharma said that 4.30 lakh new PNG connections have been registered since March 2026. She added that India’s crude inventories are adequate.
