Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined Rs 12 lakh during the IPL 2026 season. The penalty came after his team maintained a slow over-rate in their match against Delhi Capitals. The decision was announced through an official IPL media advisory. It stated that Gujarat Titans failed to complete their allotted 20 overs within the given time during the match. Shubman Gill penalised ₹12 lakh for first offence According to the IPL Code of Conduct, this was Gujarat Titans’ first slow over-rate offence of the season. As a result, captain Shubman Gill was fined ₹12 lakh under Article 2.22. Any delay is treated seriously, and penalties are imposed on the captain. Stricter penalties for repeat offences The IPL has strict rules for repeated slow over-rate offences. For the first offence, the captain is fined ₹12 lakh. If the team commits the same mistake again, the captain faces a higher fine of ₹24 lakh, and other players are also fined a percentage of their match fees.
