In Ahmedabad, Zone-3 DCP’s squad has caught a high-tech gang stealing mobiles. This gang steals mobiles in crowded places in different states. Two thieves came to Ahmedabad from Jharkhand by flight to specifically steal during the IPL match in Ahmedabad. 21 stolen mobiles have also been recovered from the accused. Two accused arrested near Kalupur Railway Station The team of PSI V.H. Rathod from Zone-3 DCP Rupal Solanki’s LCB squad arrested two accused named Raghu Mahato and Vikram Mahato near Kalupur Railway Station based on information. 21 mobile phones were recovered from the accused. Along with this, evidence including Aadhaar cards and airline tickets was also recovered. Accused had been traced since he fled earlier Furthermore, they stated that Raghu is the brother of this Amit Mohanti. Raghu had operated everyone and brought them here. The last time when he came to commit theft, he got information about the police arriving and fled. Since then we had been tracing this Raghu and now we have succeeded in catching this Raghu with 21 stolen phones. Stole phones from IPL matches in Bangalore and Ahmedabad These people were found by us from an area in Odhav and both of them came by flight this time. They came by flight specifically from Jharkhand to commit theft. There is still one accomplice with these people who is still missing, we haven’t found him yet, his name is Omkar. In the IPL that happened in Bangalore and the IPL that happened in Ahmedabad on the 4th, before that in the IPL that happened in Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium, they had taken two phones from outside and in our IPL that happened on the 4th, they also took two phones from here. Goes to Jharkhand to sell phones When these people come, they steal phones in large quantities from different places in this manner and keep going to their village and sell them there. Often they also go to Bombay and sell them, selling phones at cheap prices. The thing is that when these people snatch or steal phones from anywhere, they then close the phone inside silver foil. They believe that signals don’t reach because of this, so if someone tries the phone, no one’s phone will connect and the location won’t be traced. They Prefer Crowded Areas for Theft After stealing phones, many people do this – they keep their phones unlocked. So these people had stolen two phones in Mehsana. Among these 21 stolen phones, some were stolen at IPL in Bangalore, at IPL in Ahmedabad, stolen from Anand district, stolen from Mehsana, stolen from Adalaj – they have stolen from many different places, also stolen from Kalupur Railway Station. Mostly these people try in places where there are large crowds. Particularly in the case of IPL, the area near Gate Number-1 from the metro station which is an extremely crowded area where people get off the metro together and then no one notices – these people specifically choose areas where it is easy to steal in such a manner. They also specifically choose areas like Gita Mandir bus stand. Also stole money from stolen mobiles After such theft occurs and a large number of phones are collected, they leave the place. Until then, wherever they want to roam in Gujarat, wherever they have to collect phones from, after doing so they flee. The two phones stolen from Mehsana were unlocked, so they immediately downloaded the Google Pay app on them and because the SIM was inside and the phone number was active, they also got the OTP immediately through SMS, so they also committed a cyber crime offense and transferred and took money from that person’s account. This is the type of gang and currently based on this, we have registered a total of 12 offenses. There are 8 to 9 phones that are still in completely unlocked condition, whose owners’ information has not been found yet, so the process of registering offenses for them is ongoing. Among those currently registered are phones stolen by these people from different places like Chandkheda, Mehsana, Adalaj, Anand Town, Satellite Police Station, Bangalore City, Karnataka, Kalupur Railway Station. They used to sell stolen phones inside Gujri market The amount is small, around 4-5 thousand, but they have transferred from both phones. This gang is from Maharajpur, Maharajpur Bazar Panchayat Kalyani Naytula, which is in Taljhari police station area, district Sahebganj in Jharkhand. This place called Naytula, these people are from small villages around it and they say that they take phones from here and there ahead, just like we have Sunday market here, similarly they have Gujri market there Inside Gujri, those people sell phones at cheap prices. We are unable to trace them because they don’t insert any SIM in them. The phones that are readily available are sold to someone, and if a SIM is inserted in them, then we might have a possibility of finding that phone, but they separate and sell its parts, that’s why those phones are not easily traced. The entire theft incident was executed in three layers Those boys have been taught simply, like when a bus comes and 25-30 people have to board together, so people’s attention is on boarding. Then in crowded areas, like when there’s IPL, at that time 100-200 people get off together at the metro station, everyone has children in their hands because they have come to watch the match, so they have brought their own children or age-appropriate people along, so a person has kept their phone in the front pocket or back pocket, from where it can be easily taken out without the person knowing. Second, in executing the theft, they also maintain three layers – one is the person who steals and snatches the phone, one person stands near him to whom he hands it over, and then he in turn hands it over to a person sitting 100 meters or 200 meters away from him, so perhaps we might get information that this pickpocket has taken the phone, but if you search him, you won’t find the phone.
