indore-municipal-corporation-presents-₹8,455-crore-civic-budget:focus-on-water-projects,-roads-and-infrastructure;-development-under-major-urban-schemes

On Tuesday, the Indore Municipal Corporation presented a budget of ₹8,455 crore. Discussions and debates on the budget began today, with Congress councillors raising questions and members of the ruling BJP, including MIC members, responding. The proceedings witnessed disruptions, with BJP councillors raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”. Amid the uproar, Congress councillor Raju Bhadouria questioned the status of municipal assets. He alleged that officials often lack proper information and redirect queries to other departments instead of providing clear answers. Responding to this, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav assured that answers to such queries would be provided within seven days. He also urged Speaker Munnalal Yadav to establish a permanent mechanism to address such issues systematically. Focus on water and infrastructure development The budget places significant emphasis on infrastructure development, particularly completing master plan roads within stipulated timelines, constructing new roads, and expediting pending projects. Water-related projects have been given top priority. Key initiatives include the fourth phase of the Narmada project, laying new pipelines, replacing old ones, and setting up water testing laboratories in every ward. Major allocations under AMRUT-2 and other schemes Under the AMRUT-2 scheme and other initiatives, projects worth over ₹1,500 crore will be undertaken. These include the construction of water storage tanks, expansion of sewerage systems, and broader infrastructure development across the city.
