US, Iran agree to 2-week conditional ceasefire US President Donald Trump has announced a temporary two-week halt to military strikes on Iran, linking the pause to Tehran’s agreement to ensure safe passage through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. In a post on his social media platform Truth, Trump said he was willing to suspend bombings and attacks for two weeks if Iran immediately reopened the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil transit route. He added that Washington had received a “10-point proposal” from Iran and that most longstanding disputes between the two sides had already seen broad agreement. The two-week window, he said, would be used to finalise and implement a deal. Trump noted that the decision followed appeals from Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, who urged de-escalation and extended diplomatic engagement.
