An attempt was made to rape a four-and-a-half-year-old girl in the women’s toilet located at the ticket counter of Haridwar Railway Station. The girl’s screams caused a commotion at the spot, after which people present nearby broke down the toilet door and safely rescued the girl. Meanwhile, the accused took advantage of the crowd and escaped, but the GRP police cordoned off the area and arrested the accused within 14 hours. The arrested accused is a resident of Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh, against whom a case has been registered under several serious sections, including POCSO, and he has been sent to jail. Family was waiting for the train According to information, a family from Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh had been on a pilgrimage for the past few days. After visiting Ujjain Mahakal, Khatu Shyam, and Vaishno Devi, the family had reached Haridwar and Rishikesh. On Monday late evening, this family was waiting for a train in the ticket hall of Haridwar Railway Station to return to Madhya Pradesh. During this time, their four-and-a-half-year-old innocent daughter expressed the need to use the toilet. Sound of the child screaming came from the toilet The father sent the child to the ladies’ toilet built near the ticket hall and stood waiting at a distance outside. After just a short while, the sound of the child screaming loudly came from inside. The father and the people present there immediately rushed inside, only to find that the toilet door was locked from inside. When people broke open the door together, everyone was shocked to see the scene inside. Inside, a young man had grabbed the innocent child with wrong intentions, and her clothes were disheveled. Accused caught with help of people People immediately rescued the girl from the accused. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the opportunity, the accused took advantage of the crowd and fled from there. The arrested accused has been identified as Yash Yadav (19), from Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh). The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 127(1), 62, 64 of BNS and 7/8 of the POCSO Act. Came to Haridwar for Drugs and Debauchery During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, Yash Yadav, is illiterate and has a vagabond nature. He often runs away from home. According to the police, the accused came here with the intention of indulging in his drug habit by taking advantage of the ongoing travel season and crowds in Haridwar. The police are now investigating his past criminal history. Considering the seriousness of the incident, a forensic team was called to the spot, which has collected important scientific evidence. The accused’s medical examination has been conducted, and his clothes have been sealed as evidence.
