In Madhya Pradesh, around 2.2 lakh domestic and commercial LPG cylinders are being booked daily, with sufficient stock available across 13 bottling plants, officials said on Monday. Oil companies assured that there is no shortage of LPG in the state. Ajay Kumar Srivastava, Chief General Manager and State Head, said both domestic LPG and commercial gas are being supplied as per established norms. He urged consumers not to panic or engage in unnecessary booking and stockpiling. Special provision for migrants and students To cater to low-consumption users and those without a local address—such as students and migrant workers—5 kg small cylinders are being made available. Special camps are being set up in industrial areas like Mandideep, Pithampur, Govindpura, Malanpur, Dewas, and Singrauli. Distribution network and Stock details The state has a total of 13 bottling plants—6 operated by Indian Oil Corporation, 3 by Bharat Petroleum, and 4 by Hindustan Petroleum. LPG is being supplied to consumers through 1,552 gas agencies across the state. Customers are encouraged to use digital platforms like SMS, missed calls, and IVRS for booking cylinders. Currently, about 95% of bookings are being made online. Deliveries are verified through OTP (Delivery Authentication Code) to ensure cylinders reach the correct customers. Crackdown on irregularities Following complaints of irregularities and black marketing in some areas, oil companies have intensified monitoring. Special teams have conducted 2,485 raids so far, registered 10 FIRs, and seized 3,561 cylinders. No LPG shortage, say officials Srivastava reassured consumers that there is no shortage of LPG in the country. He advised people not to believe rumours or hoard cylinders unnecessarily. Petrol and Diesel supply also adequate The state has 7,147 petrol pumps, including 649 operated by private companies. Fuel storage and supply are managed through four terminals and 13 depots. Currently, around 8,000 kilolitres of petrol and 16,000 kilolitres of diesel are supplied daily in the state, which is sufficient to meet demand. Officials confirmed there is no shortage, even during the peak agricultural season. Under the City Gas Distribution Policy 2025, efforts are being made to expand piped natural gas supply to domestic, industrial, and commercial users, as well as increase CNG stations for vehicles.
