A student opened fire on B.Tech students in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on Sunday night. In three rounds of firing, two bullets hit two students. Both have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The accused student was having an alcohol party with his companions and was creating a ruckus using abusive language. Both injured students had gone with their companions to counsel him. Angered by this, one student opened fire and fled. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against the accused student, and the investigation has started. So far, the accused has not been arrested. According to police, 23-year-old Vasu Gupta and 21-year-old Anshu Tej Patil are both students of Sage University. Vasu is in the third year of BBA, while Anshu is a second-year BTech student. Both students live with fellow students in the Sage Suncity Phase-1 colony. Sudhanshu Singh, who lives at LNCT College located on Raisen Road, and his companions often come to meet other students living in the colony. They drink alcohol till late at night and use abusive language. The accused were partying till early Sunday morning, which was causing disturbance to Vasu and his companions. When the victim student reached out to his peers to reason with the accused, Sudhansu and his companions started misbehaving with them. As the dispute escalated, Sudhansu fired the first round in the air with a country-made pistol he had, while two rounds were fired at Vasu and Anshu. Vasu was injured in the shoulder, while Anshu became seriously injured after being shot in the stomach. After the incident, the accused fled, threatening to kill them. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against Sudhansu Singh and three others and have started a search for them.
