Three masked men on a bike opened fire at a medical store in Morena on Sunday afternoon after an alleged extortion demand of ₹25 lakh was not paid. The incident occurred at Porsa Chowk under Ambah police station limits. The accused reached Vikas Medical Store and fired multiple rounds. Shop owner Vikas Gupta was away for lunch at the time, while his parents were inside the store. 7 cartridges found, area gripped by panic Police recovered seven cartridges from the spot, including five empty shells and two live rounds. One bullet pierced the shop’s shutter. The firing took place around 3:45 pm without any warning, triggering panic in the area. No injuries were reported. Extortion threat ignored, police response under scanner According to Vikas Gupta, a ₹25 lakh extortion demand was received two days earlier through a youth. He said the matter was reported to Ambah police, but no action was taken. The alleged inaction is now under question, as it may have encouraged the attackers. Accused unidentified, search underway Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and began an investigation. The accused have not been identified yet. Officials said teams are analysing the video footage and recording witness statements to trace the miscreants.
