In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a case initially believed to be suicide has now been identified as murder after nearly a month. The victim, 27-year-old Rinku Yadav, was allegedly killed by his father Raju Yadav and brother Gaurav Yadav. The incident took place around 12:30 am on March 4, 2026, in Naka Chandravadani, Lane Number Five. According to police findings, the father strangled Rinku while the brother restrained his hands. After he died, the accused allegedly hanged the body to make it appear as a suicide. Family informed police of ‘suicide’ On the morning of March 4, Raju Yadav and Gaurav Yadav informed the Jhansi Road police station that Rinku had died by suicide. Following a post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family, and the last rites were conducted the same day. At the time, police treated the case as suicide and did not pursue the possibility of murder. Post-mortem report reveals murder From March 4 to April 4, police treated the case as a suicide. The accused believed they had evaded suspicion. However, the post-mortem report received on April 4 confirmed that Rinku Yadav died due to strangulation and suffocation, indicating murder. Father and brother confess during questioning After the report, police detained the family around 11 pm on April 4 and resumed questioning. During interrogation, father Raju Yadav and brother Gaurav Yadav confessed to the crime. Accused cites son’s behaviour According to police, the father said Rinku had returned home drunk and assaulted his wife. He was made to sleep in a separate room, but later began creating a disturbance again. The father claimed he killed his son as he was troubled by his behaviour. Arrested and sent to jail Jhansi Road police station TI Shakti Singh Yadav said both accused were arrested and the case was converted from suicide to murder. They were produced in court and remanded to jail. The investigation is ongoing.
