A video has surfaced showing a Traffic Sub-Inspector (SI), Balram Singh Tomar, allegedly assaulting a young man at Radisson Square in Indore. In the footage, the young man is seen sitting on the ground, touching the officer’s feet and apologising. Despite this, the SI is seen kicking him and using abusive language. The officer is heard saying that the youth refused to stop despite police presence, while the युवक insists he had stopped when asked. Probe ordered, facts unclear Police said the video is around four months old. Traffic DCP Rajesh Tripathi said an inquiry has been initiated and termed the behaviour “wrong”. He added that the clip is short and does not show how the incident began or what led to the dispute. An officer of Additional DCP rank has been assigned to investigate. The SI’s statement will be recorded as part of the inquiry. No complaint at the time Police said the youth did not file a complaint when the incident allegedly took place in early December. However, after the video surfaced, a complaint has now been received and the youth’s statement may also be recorded. Officer’s posting history Tomar was earlier posted in the Crime Branch and later transferred to Ujjain. He was recently posted to the DRP Line before being assigned to the Traffic Police Station.
