Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has filed a petition in court. He has accused the Sri Lanka Cricket Board of failing to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and has sought permission to play. Demand for NOC issuance Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has filed a petition in the Colombo District Court. He has demanded that Sri Lanka Cricket issue an NOC for him to play in IPL 2026. The initial hearing in this case has taken place, and the next date is set for April 9. Did not meet fitness standards – Sri Lanka Cricket Board The board refused to give Thushara an NOC, stating that he did not meet the prescribed fitness standards. However, Thushara says that he had played with the same fitness in the 2024 and 2025 seasons and had received an NOC then. Contract ended, distance from international cricket Thushara informed the court that his contract with the board ended on March 31, 2026. He had already informed them that he would not extend it further and would stay away from international cricket. He argued that when he had also been informed he would not be selected for national duties, the refusal to issue an NOC on fitness grounds was unreasonable. Career and Earnings Will Be Affected Thushara said that if he does not get an NOC, the IPL team might replace him. This would affect both his career and earnings. He has sought an interim and permanent order from the court to allow him to play in foreign leagues, including the IPL.
