Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) started their IPL 2026 campaign with six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28. Chasing a huge target of 202 runs, RCB completed the chase in just 15.4 overs. Virat Kohli led from the front with an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls on their home soil. Kohli’s innings included five fours and five sixes. While Devdutt Padikkal provided strong support with a quickfire 61 off just 26 balls. Earlier, SRH posted a competitive total thanks to Ishan Kishan’s 80-run innings and Aniket Verma’s explosive 43 off 18 balls. Tribute was paid to them before the match. 3) Phil Salt’s one-handed stunner Phil Salt took a sensational one-handed catch to dismiss Ishan Kishan in the match. This incident happened in the 16th over of the match when the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper tried to go big on the offside. Salt, who was spectacular on the field, pulled off a sensational dive at deep backward point and grabbed Kishan’s catch with an outstretched right hand, much to everyone’s awe, including teammates Kohli and Jitesh Sharma. 4) Virat Kohli drops Aniket Verma’s catch, Anushka’s reaction goes viral Kohli had a forgettable moment on the field as he dropped Aniket Verma’s catch in the first innings. This happened in the 18th over when the young batter tried to take the attack to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The ball was hit high in the air and Kohli, who gathered below it, could not hold on and ended up dropping the catch. The camera showed Anushka’s reaction and the actor was amused by the catch drop. 5) Heinrich Klaasen unhappy after controversial catch Heinrich Klaasen was seemingly very unhappy after a controversial catch by Salt saw his innings come to an end. This happened in the 14th over when Salt took Klaasen’s catch extremely close to the boundary, prompting a referral to the TV umpire. And after replaying the footage, the TV umpire concluded that the catch was legitimate and ruled it out.
