Bus overturns after collision with pickup in Chhindwara:10 dead, including drivers, over 30 injured, one critical

A bus overturned in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh after a head-on collision with a pickup truck. 10 people, including the drivers of both vehicles, died in the accident. Among the deceased are 6 men, 3 women, and one child. More than 30 people were injured. One injured person is in critical condition and has been referred to Nagpur Medical College. The accident occurred on Thursday evening, around 6:30 PM, near Simaria. The bus, bearing registration number MP28 P 0321, was carrying 47 people. It was returning from a beneficiary conference held at the Police Line in Chhindwara. The bus was carrying 51 people from the same panchayat. Expressing grief over the accident, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh each to the seriously injured. On the CM’s instructions, District In-charge Minister Rakesh Singh reached Chhindwara District Hospital around 1 AM and inquired about the condition of the injured. The bus was returning from the Chief Minister’s program held at the Police Ground in Chhindwara city, where 105 works worth Rs 506 crore were inaugurated and their foundation stones laid. The accident occurred about 25 kilometres from the program venue. The collision was so severe that many people died on the spot. The deceased include bus passengers, the driver and the cleaner of the pickup vehicle.
