Actress alleges misconduct during event in Bhopal:Claims she was threatened using CM’s name at Woman Power Award

Television actress Kanchi Singh has alleged misconduct by event organisers and a restaurant operator during the Woman Power Award 2026 event held in Bhopal on March 14. She claimed that during a discussion, she was pressured and even threatened by invoking the name of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. However, both the organisers and the restaurant owner have strongly denied all allegations. Event went smoothly, says actress Kanchi Singh stated that the main event proceeded without any issues. She completed her stage performance, interacted with participants, and received her payment on time. She said the atmosphere during the event was positive, and she had no complaints until its conclusion. Dinner invitation led to dispute After the event, organisers invited Singh to a dinner, reportedly hosted to celebrate organiser Beena Srivastava’s birthday. Considering it a professional courtesy, the actress attended the dinner, stating that as an artist, she enjoys interacting with people at such gatherings. Continuous video recording at dinner According to Singh, she was given a grand welcome at the dinner venue, where her videos were displayed on screens to enhance the ambience. She alleged that her reactions, dining moments, and other activities were continuously recorded. At the time, she did not suspect the footage would be used for promotional purposes. Allegation of unauthorized video use The actress accused the organisers and the restaurant of posting these videos on social media without her consent. She emphasized that using an artist’s content without permission violates professional ethics and expressed strong displeasure over the incident. Claim of pressure using influential names Singh said that when she raised concerns about removing the videos or being compensated for promotional use, she spoke with restaurant owner Manish Sharma. During the conversation, she alleged that references were made to connections with influential individuals and that the name of CM Mohan Yadav was used to exert pressure. She termed this inappropriate and said invoking a public office bearer’s name in such a manner worsened the situation. Bill dispute and Misconduct allegations Singh further claimed that when she insisted on removing the videos, she was asked to settle the restaurant bill first. She clarified that she had no connection with the financial dealings between the organisers and the restaurant and questioned why her consent issue was being linked to a third-party bill. She also alleged that she was spoken to disrespectfully and that her concerns were not taken seriously. Additionally, Singh accused organiser Beena Srivastava of not offering support during the dispute and leaving the situation unresolved. ‘Aim is awareness, not targeting anyone’ The actress said her intention is not to target any individual but to raise awareness. While appreciating the people of Bhopal and Madhya Pradesh, she expressed disappointment over her experience and urged others to remain cautious at such events and speak up against irregularities. Restaurant owner denies all allegations Restaurant owner Manish Sharma rejected all claims, stating that no misconduct or threats occurred. He said Singh had voluntarily visited the restaurant, appreciated the ambience, and participated in promotional video content with consent. According to him, she dined with her family, generating a bill of around ₹78,000, which was allegedly part of a promotion agreement. He claimed Singh later demanded additional payment. CM name misuse denied, videos removed Sharma also denied using the Chief Minister’s name to exert pressure and confirmed that the videos in question have since been removed from social media. Organiser’s response Organiser Beena Srivastava stated that the event was successfully conducted and all payments were made on time. She attributed the dispute to miscommunication and coordination issues, blaming Singh’s personal manager Shubham Tomar for the situation. Srivastava added that the controversy has damaged her reputation and caused her mental stress, and she does not wish to comment further publicly.
