Pandhurna’s Civil Lines area witnessed a massive fire on Wednesday night after two gas cylinders exploded, engulfing three houses in flames. The fire was so intense that the city’s electricity supply had to be shut down in half the area as a precaution. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze. The incident occurred around 10 PM in the homes of Lakshan Binjhare, Lajwanti Mohbe, and Lalita Hapase. Following the explosion of one cylinder, the fire spread rapidly, affecting the neighboring two houses. Victims describe total loss of property The affected families said the fire spread so fast that they had no time to salvage any belongings. Motorcycles, scooters, and all household items were completely destroyed. Fortunately, all residents managed to evacuate safely, preventing any casualties. Considering the severity of the fire, the electricity company shut down power to half of the city as a precaution. Local residents have urged the administration to provide immediate relief and compensation to the affected families. Family away when disaster struck Parvati Bijhade, one of the victims, shared the ordeal. “I had gone with my children to a petrol pump to get diesel and some supplies when I received a call from the neighborhood that our house was on fire. By the time I returned, my entire house had burned to ashes. Thankfully, no one was home, so the family was safe.” The fire destroyed grains, clothes, essential documents, and vehicles including motorcycles, scooters, and a car. Even the gas cylinders were reduced to ashes. The family had gone to get 15 liters of diesel for their sugarcane cart, fearing a fuel shortage.
