E-rickshaws have now become a serious problem for the city already struggling with traffic jams during peak hours and a poorly managed traffic system. Reckless entry from the wrong side and high speed of e-rickshaws are leading to frequent accidents across the city. There is no route left in the city where traffic is not disrupted or accidents are not happening due to e-rickshaws. Despite all efforts by the police administration, the arbitrary behavior and negligence of e-rickshaw drivers is not stopping. There is hardly any route left where traffic is not being disrupted or accidents are not occurring due to e-rickshaws. Despite repeated efforts by the police and administration, the arbitrary behaviour and negligence of e-rickshaw drivers continue unchecked. More than 10 accidents have occurred in the past week alone due to e-rickshaws. Two people have suffered shoulder fractures. What is surprising is that more than eight meetings have been held in the past year to regulate e-rickshaw operations. Several major decisions were taken and efforts were made to implement them, but none could be enforced. However, the police-administration claims that a new plan for e-rickshaws will be implemented from March 26. Under this, e-rickshaws will be divided into four zones. Strict action will be taken against those violating rules or driving under the influence. Minors and intoxicated persons will not be able to drive vehicles A new system has been developed for e-rickshaws. Around 10,500 e-rickshaws in the city have been divided into four zones across eight police stations each. Their registration process has already begun. It has also been decided that minors and those under the influence will not be allowed to drive e-rickshaws. If found violating the rules, their vehicles will be seized and legal action will be taken.
