A new case of sacrilege has emerged at the Golden Temple, Amritsar, involving the creation of videos and photos using Artificial Intelligence (AI). A cricket fan page shared photos of cricketers and Bollywood stars at the Golden Temple on Facebook. In the first photo, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, and in the second, cricketer Hardik Pandya, were shown with their heads uncovered. However, according to Sikhism, it is mandatory to cover one’s head to enter the Golden Temple. A few days prior, an AI video was shared showing a skeleton circumambulating the Golden Temple and wearing shoes in the langar hall. Additionally, a person was depicted driving a jeep in the circumambulation path. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly objected to this, but the series of sacrileges continues unabated. Now, the SGPC has also strongly objected to the new photos, stating that the central and state governments should enact strict laws to ensure that such culprits face strict action and that no one can commit such sacrilege in the future. However, the photo posted mentions that it is an AI-generated image. This raises questions about whether it was done intentionally.
