Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday visited the Parswanath City residence of student Gurkeerat Singh Manocha. He consoled the family and promised to bear the entire cost of bringing the student’s body and the funeral. Meanwhile, the family expressed their desire to perform the last rites in Canada. The family handed a letter to the Chief Minister, requesting arrangements for visas for two family members and the funeral in Canada. The family also demanded that the student’s education loan be waived. Earlier, the Chief Minister had attended the convocation ceremony of Samrat Vikramaditya University. The Chief Minister said that we are in contact with the Canadian government through the Government of India. I offer my condolences. This family belongs to our state and especially our city. Therefore, the government will help with whatever is decided, including going from here to Canada and the funeral arrangements. Killed by running over with a car Gurkeerat Singh was run over and killed in Fort St. John, Canada, on March 14. Before the incident, 10-12 youths had beaten the student, causing him serious injuries. He was admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The student was studying a Post-Degree Diploma Program in Business Management at Northern Lights College in Canada. The family was informed about this incident by Gurkeerat’s friend, Prabkeerat Singh, a resident of Raipur. The family had sought help According to the family, the Canadian government has asked for approximately 40,000 dollars (about 35 lakh rupees) to be deposited to release the student’s body. Furthermore, due to the investigation process, the body will be released from the hospital after 15 days, and bringing the body from Canada to Ujjain will incur an additional cost of approximately 10 lakh rupees. Gurkeerat’s father, Gurjeet Singh, had appealed to the central-state government and administration for help. Earlier, the Governor and the Chief Minister inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and awarded gold medals to 103 students, PhD degrees to 74 students, and a D-Lit degree to 01 student of the university. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for 11 road construction projects. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that every person coming to Ujjain for Simhastha-2028 will be our guest, and in such a situation, it is the responsibility of the state government that whoever sets foot on the land of Madhya Pradesh to participate in Simhastha, their convenience and dignity should not be compromised.

Inauguration of the exhibition at the convocation ceremony The self-reliance initiative of Acharya Vidyasagar Peeth and Research Institute received special recognition at the convocation ceremony of Samrat Vikramaditya University. During this, a special gift hamper of non-violent handloom clothes and traditional products was presented to the Governor and the Chief Minister.
At the event, the handloom and “Chal Charkha” (moving spinning wheel) exhibition was inaugurated by lighting a lamp in front of the portrait of Acharya Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj. Handloom clothes, Gobal (cow dung) products, and pottery items were the centre of attraction at the exhibition.
On this occasion, the first ‘Chal Charkha’/handloom unit was also established on the university campus. According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arpan Bhardwaj, 18 such units will be started soon, which will inspire students towards self-employment and self-reliance.
