An eight-year-old girl was hit by the Tamil Nadu Express at Platform No. 1 of Narmadapuram railway station, suffering severe injuries to her head, waist and shoulders, leading to heavy blood loss. The incident occurred at around 8 PM on Tuesday. The girl was admitted to the district hospital and placed on a ventilator in critical condition. On Wednesday morning, given the seriousness of her injuries, she was referred to Bhopal for further treatment. According to eyewitnesses, the girl was standing on the platform with her mother when she came into contact with the passing train’s engine and got trapped between the train and the platform. As the train was moving slowly, it came to a halt after covering some distance. Personnel from the RPF, GRP, along with passengers present at the spot, rescued the girl from the track and rushed her to hospital. Meanwhile, there are also claims that she may have been pushed; however, this has not been confirmed. The GRP is investigating the matter. Mother daughter had been at platform for nearly one and a half hours The injured girl, eight-year-old Yuvika Rajput, had arrived at the station with her mother, Anju Singh Rajput. Anju lives in Pink Avenue, Malakhedi, and works as a clerk in the Agriculture Department. She was given a compassionate appointment around 7–8 years ago after her husband died in an accident. According to the GRP, CCTV footage from the platform shows that the woman and the girl had been present there for nearly one to one and a half hours before the incident. GRP scanning CCTV cameras This incident occurred at the Itarsi end of platform number-1. Blood of the girl was found on the ballast and platform at the spot. GRP station in-charge Sanjay Chaukse has recorded the statement of the girl’s mother Anju Rajput who is present at the hospital. The incident could not be recorded on camera as the angle of the camera installed on the platform was facing the other side. However, the GRP team is examining other CCTV cameras at the station to uncover the truth of the incident. The mother’s statements have been recorded and CCTV cameras are also being examined. ICU In-charge Dr. Sandeep Sahu said that the girl has deep injuries on her head, waist and shoulders. She has lost a lot of blood and her blood pressure is also low. According to the doctor, the girl has been put on ventilator and her condition remains very serious. Claimed to go to Bhopal, but had no ticket When RPF and GRP asked the woman about the reason for coming here, she said she was going to Bhopal. However, she did not have any ticket to go to Bhopal. In CCTV footage, the woman is seen roaming on the platform for about one and a half hours. During this time, other trains going to Bhopal had also left. After some time when the train left, a crowd is visible. Whether the girl collided with the engine herself or was pushed could not be clearly seen in the camera due to nighttime. According to sources, police are investigating more on the angle of pushing. Lives with daughter in Pink Avenue Colony Woman Anju Singh Rajput lives alone with her daughter in Pink Avenue Colony Narmadapuram. Her maternal home is near the Ordnance Factory.
