Amid concerns over an LPG shortage in the city, questions were raised about food services on trains. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has clarified that the catering system in the West Central Railway (WCR) region is currently running normally. IRCTC spokesperson A.K. Singh said that food is being supplied regularly on trains and passengers are not facing any problems related to meals. Food supplied from 25 cluster kitchens According to Singh, about 25 cluster kitchens operated by IRCTC are functioning in the WCR region. These kitchens prepare and supply food to all major trains in the area. He said that there has been no disruption in food supply on any train so far and the kitchens currently have enough LPG cylinders in stock. Passengers receiving food normally Singh added that some passengers recently complained about receiving cold food. However, trains are equipped with microwave ovens, and food can be reheated before serving if required. He said IRCTC is closely monitoring the catering system to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience. Alternative plan prepared due to LPG concerns The IRCTC spokesperson said that the zonal office in Mumbai has instructed officials to keep alternative arrangements ready as a precaution. Cluster kitchens and trains have been asked to keep induction cookers, microwave ovens, and ready-to-eat food available in case LPG supply becomes a problem. However, he clarified that these alternative arrangements have not been needed yet. Situation under control According to IRCTC, the gas supply system is currently functioning normally and train catering services have not been affected. Officials said that if any issue arises in the future, alternative arrangements will be implemented immediately to ensure passengers continue receiving meals without disruption. For now, the situation in the West Central Railway region remains fully under control.
