A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was crushed by a speeding dumper in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla district on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred in the Kotwali police station area. The deceased has been identified as Akriti Yadav, a resident of Bamhori village. She was returning home from an Anganwadi centre when the incident took place. According to local residents, the dumper hit the child while she was walking along the road. The impact was severe, and the child died on the spot. Police seize dumper, driver arrested Police said the dumper was travelling from Niwas towards Mandla at the time of the accident. After receiving information, police and local residents chased the vehicle. It was later stopped near the Phoolsagar toll booth. Police seized the dumper and arrested the driver. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Villagers block road after incident Angry villagers blocked the Niwas–Mandla road after the accident and demanded strict action against the driver. Traffic was disrupted on both sides of the road for some time, although many vehicles used alternative routes. Police and administrative officials reached the spot and tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road.
