US President Donald Trump thanked India and its largest private energy company Reliance Industries while announcing a $300 billion (approximately ₹25.35 lakh crore) oil refinery in Texas. US President Donald Trump has praised India and Reliance Industries for building the first new oil refinery in America in 50 years. Trump called it a historic investment, saying it is a big win for the ‘America First’ policy. Through this project, America wants to re-establish its dominance in the energy sector. The entire deal is worth $300 billion Donald Trump announced this project on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’. He revealed that this refinery being built in Brownsville, Texas is part of a large $300 billion deal. According to Trump, this is the biggest deal in American history. However, it is not yet fully clear whether the entire $300 billion amount is part of the agreement with India alone or if other partners are also involved. Claims to be the world’s cleanest refinery Trump said that this refinery being built at the Brownsville port will not only meet the needs of the US domestic market but will also boost global exports. He claimed that this will be the world’s ‘cleanest’ refinery. This will strengthen America’s national security and create thousands of new jobs in the South Texas region. Trump says – Thank you India and Reliance Revealing the project, Trump wrote, “Thanks to our partners in India and their largest private energy company, Reliance, for this magnificent investment.” Praising his government’s policies, Trump said that such large investments are returning to America only because of tax cuts and simplifying the permit process. Big announcement amid Middle East tensions This announcement comes at a time when the global oil market is in turmoil due to ongoing conflicts between Iran, Israel and America. The closure of the Hormuz waterway has affected 20% of the world’s oil supply, causing crude oil prices to rise. In such a situation, America wants to reduce dependence on other countries by increasing its domestic oil production capacity. Element Fuels Holding is working According to news agency Reuters, a Dallas startup company ‘Element Fuels Holding’ had talked about restarting efforts to build a new plant in Brownsville in 2024. It is believed that Trump is hinting towards this big project, which is now showing signs of Indian collaboration.
