A 24-year-old man was allegedly murdered in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district barely a month after his wedding, with police arresting his wife, her alleged lover and the lover’s friend for the crime. Investigators said the accused tried to pass off the murder as a road accident by placing a motorcycle over the victim’s body near a forested area. The deceased, Ajay Vaishya, a resident of Khantara village in the Majhauli police station area of Sidhi district, had married Uma Vaishya of Gannai village on February 12. According to police, Ajay left home on the evening of March 7 on his motorcycle, saying he was heading to his in-laws’ house. However, he never reached his destination. The next day, his body was found lying on the roadside near the Rajiniya Katra forest area, with a motorcycle placed over it. Initially suspected to be a road accident Police said the scene initially suggested a road accident. However, certain injury marks on the body and inconsistencies at the spot raised suspicion of foul play. Investigators then began examining the case from a homicide angle. During the probe, police questioned family members and people known to the victim. Suspicion eventually turned towards the victim’s wife. Wife allegedly conspired with lover During interrogation, Uma Vaishya allegedly told police that she had been in a relationship with Amar Bahadur Vaishy before her marriage. According to investigators, the two remained in contact even after her wedding. Police said the accused then conspired to eliminate Ajay. As per the alleged plan, Uma called Ajay to her maternal home on March 7 and informed Amar Bahadur about his movement. Amar Bahadur, along with his associate Chandrapratap alias Chandan Vaishy, arrived in a Bolero vehicle and waited near a deserted stretch close to the forest. When Ajay approached the area on his motorcycle, the two men allegedly intercepted him. Strangled and attacked with stone Investigators said the accused wore medical gloves during the attack. They allegedly strangled Ajay using a gamcha (towel) and then repeatedly hit his head with a stone, killing him on the spot. After the murder, the accused placed the motorcycle over Ajay’s body near the roadside to create the impression that he had died in a road accident. Three accused arrested Singrauli Superintendent of Police Manish Khatri said that although the case initially appeared to be an accident, the investigation revealed it was a planned murder. “All three accused — the victim’s wife, her alleged lover and his associate — have been arrested,” Khatri said, adding that they have been produced before a court. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.Wife allegedly conspired with lover During interrogation, Uma Vaishya allegedly told police that she had been in a relationship with Amar Bahadur Vaishy before her marriage.
