Madhya Pradesh Congress state president Jitu Patwari and Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar cornered the BJP government on the issue of Vijaypur MLA Mukesh Malhotra. Patwari said regarding the nullification of Vijaypur MLA Mukesh Malhotra’s election that Congress would challenge this decision in the Supreme Court. He said that while they respect the judiciary, the party is confident that justice will be served in the Supreme Court. Targeting the BJP, Patwari said that they are unable to accept that a tribal leader won the election and reached the assembly. Referring to the case of MLA Nirmala Sapre, he said that if BJP has the courage, they should get a decision made in that case as well. Singhar’s question on the appointment of Information Commissioners Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar cornered the government over vacant posts in the State Information Commission. He said that the appointment of Information Commissioners in the state has been pending for a long time and the government is working at a very slow pace in this matter. Singhar said that the government crawls slowly like a snake, whereas the appointment of Information Commissioners should happen soon. He informed that he has discussed this matter with the Chief Minister and two Information Commissioners are to be appointed. Questions also on Narottam Mishra and gas cylinders Singhar said that the hearing of a case related to former minister Narottam Mishra is still pending. He alleged that the BJP tries to influence decisions by exerting pressure and also expressed apprehension that this is being done to affect Congress’s Rajya Sabha seat. He also targeted the government over the shortage of gas cylinders and inflation. Singhar said that the government wakes up late in every matter. Decisions were delayed even during the COVID period. He said that the government should provide relief to the public by reducing taxes, but the government is only busy filling its own coffers.
