A 20-year-old girl died during celebratory firing in Mawai village of Sidhi district on Monday night around 8 pm. The girl was seriously injured after being shot in the stomach. She was immediately taken to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which a young man is seen firing celebratory shots during the event. Bullet fired during housewarming ceremony According to information, a celebratory event was organized at the house of Sunny Singh, a resident of Mawai village in Churhat police station area, after the birth of his son and bringing the newborn home. During this, some people from the village who were present there were doing celebratory firing. After that, he suddenly fired a shot which hit my sister in the stomach. Family members immediately admitted Ritika to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa. Doctors declared her dead after primary treatment. The deceased was a resident of Rewa district and had come to her elder sister’s house in Mavai village. Police searching for the accused Churhat police station in-charge Deepak Singh Baghela said that after receiving information about the girl’s death, the police have started investigating the matter. Based on technical evidence, the police are trying to find out which person fired the bullet and with which weapon. The station in-charge said that as soon as the case diary is received from Rewa, proper legal action will be taken in the matter.
