The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a massive cash reward of INR 131 crore for India national cricket team after their outstanding performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The board made the announcement to honour the players, support staff and selectors for their remarkable contribution in helping India achieve another historic milestone in world cricket. India won the prestigious title after defeating New Zealand national cricket team in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this victory, India successfully defended their T20 World Cup title and became the first team in the tournament’s history to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy. The triumph also made India the first nation to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, strengthening their reputation as one of the most successful teams in the format. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirms historic reward Confirming the announcement, Devajit Saikia praised the team’s remarkable achievement and acknowledged their efforts throughout the tournament. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. “India lifted the prestigious trophy after defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, successfully defending the title and becoming the first team in the history of the tournament to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With this victory, India also became the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, further cementing their place among the most successful teams in the history of the format. The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future.” The reward is ₹6 crore higher than the prize announced after India’s previous T20 World Cup triumph in 2024, when then BCCI secretary Jay Shah had declared a ₹125 crore bonus for the team led by Rohit Sharma. Batting first, the hosts posted a record total of 255/5, one of the highest scores ever in a T20 World Cup final. The innings was powered by a brilliant knock from Sanju Samson, who scored a quick 89 runs to give India a strong foundation. New Zealand struggled to keep up with the massive target as India’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance. Leading the bowling attack was star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who produced a sensational spell and took four wickets for just 14 runs, his career-best figures in T20 internationals. India eventually sealed the match with a commanding 96-run victory, completing one of the most dominant wins in a T20 World Cup final. Individual awards and tournament prize money Sanju Samson’s exceptional form throughout the tournament also earned him the Player of the Tournament award. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 321 runs in just five innings, playing a key role in India’s successful campaign. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was named the Player of the Match in the final for his outstanding bowling performance that dismantled New Zealand’s batting lineup. Apart from the BCCI reward, India also received the official prize money from the International Cricket Council. The champions were awarded USD 2.34 million (approximately ₹21.5 crore), while the runners-up New Zealand received USD 1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore).
