In the Jaitahari police station area of Anuppur district, a couple involved in a love affair died during treatment. Both had consumed poison. The young woman died around 8:30 PM on Saturday at Anuppur District Hospital. Meanwhile, the young man passed away between 2:30 and 3 AM on Sunday at Jaitahari Community Health Center. Due to the critical condition of the young man, the police could not record detailed information regarding the consumption of poison in his statement. Young woman who went out for defecation missing, report filed Jaitahari Police Station in-charge Amar Verma stated that the deceased Madhuri Chaudhary (18), a resident of Amgawa, Jaitahari, had left her home on the evening of March 3 for defecation but did not return. Her family members started searching for her. The next day, Madhuri’s twin sister Sita Chaudhary learned that Madhuri used to talk on the phone with a young man named Shankar alias Abhay Rathore. When the family members reached the young man’s house, they found out that Shankar alias Abhay Rathore was also missing since March 3. Subsequently, on March 5, Madhuri’s family members filed a missing person report at Jaithari police station. Information about daughter consuming poison received from social media On March 6, Madhuri Chaudhary called her elder sister Sita Chaudhary and asked her to come to Anuppur with ?2000 and her Aadhaar card. Sita reached Anuppur with her family, but no one was found there. On Saturday evening, family members received information via social media that their daughter had consumed poison and her condition was serious. She was admitted to Jaitahari Community Health Centre and was being referred to Anuppur District Hospital. Girl dies before reaching the hospital By the time family members reached Anuppur District Hospital at night, the girl had already died. Subsequently, the family members arrived at Jaitahari Community Health Centre, where they found Shankar alias Abhay Rathore (20), son of Jeevan Rathore, resident of Umaria, also admitted in serious condition after consuming poison. Later, the young man also died. Police say that possibly the young man and woman had left Jaitahari on March 3, and both returned on Saturday afternoon by Narmada train, but consumed a poisonous substance on the way before reaching the village. Police engaged in an investigation after the death of the young man and woman According to family members, the deceased girl’s mother’s maternal home is Seoni village, adjacent to Umaria village, where the girl had her education up to secondary level. Six months ago, after the death of the deceased girl’s grandfather, she started living in her village, Amagwan. Her father had died in 2017. Currently, the police have also handed over the young man’s body to the family after the post-mortem. In both death cases, the police, after recording statements of family members, have started further investigation.
