IND vs ENG breaks digital viewership record:Semifinal becomes most-watched live event with 65.2 million viewers

The India vs England T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal was not just a record-breaking game on the field. But it also shattered a digital viewership record. The pulsating semifinal saw India edge past England in an absolute run-fest. India, with the seven-run win over England, became the first team to reach four T20 World Cup finals. India will now meet New Zealand in the summit clash in Ahmedabad on 8 March. This was informed by International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah in a post on X. “This demonstrates the unparalleled capacity of marquee global Cricket to aggregate Indian fans as well as the prowess of my team at the ICC and our partner #JioStar in recruiting engaging fans at scale,” a part of Shah’s post, read. Earlier, the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match on 15 February became the most-watched T20 match in ICC events. The match had registered an astounding 16.3 crore viewers. The two teams scored an aggregate of 499 runs, the most in a men’s T20 World Cup match. Also, a total of 34 sixes were hit, the most in a T20I. India, by amassing 253/7, scored the highest total in T20 World Cup knockouts. Jacob Bethell put up a stellar fight for England with a 105-run knock, the highest score in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
